Library Support for Remote Learning: Home

In light of the University moving to remote learning & teaching and government guidance around social distancing, this guide will give you information on how to use the Library and get help and support from our staff remotely.

University-wide information on Coronavirus

For the University's full advice on the Coronavirus, please visit: https://www.derby.ac.uk/coronavirus/

Libraries are now closed. All sites of the University (including Libraries) are now closed until further notice. Please do not travel to any of our Libraries. See the 'Help and support' tab above for details of how to contact the Library and support at this time.

News and updates

Please see below for the latest information regarding University libraries and resources. Information will also be posted to the Library twitter @DerbyUniLibrary

Updated: Thursday 2 April

Library Closures

All University sites are now closed (including Libraries) until further notice.  See the 'Help and Support' tab for details of how to contact the Library and support at this time.

Renewals
All items are renewed for six weeks and you can renew your items up to 30 times. You will still be able to renew your items if you have a fine on your account. Please see the 'Help and Support' tab for details of how to contact the Library if you have any questions about your account.

Fines

We will not be charging Library fines from 21 March. If you have any concerns and would like to contact us about fines, please use our online chat service (bottom right corner of the page) or email library@derby.ac.uk.

Reservations
The reservation service has now been suspended.

SCONUL Access suspended

SCONUL Access for visiting students and staff from other Universities is withdrawn until further notice. We will also not be processing new applications from University of Derby students to use other Libraries. This is in-line with guidance issued nationally by the SCONUL organisation.

Appointments

In line with the move to remote teaching, all Library one-to-one appointments are now only available online.  See the 'Help and Support' tab for more information.

Inter Library Loans (ILLs)

All ILLs are now free. We will continue to request electronic copies of journal articles and book chapters, which will be supplied by email.   Please see our guide to Secure Electronic Delivery for further information.  Please note - our main supplier, the British Library can no longer satisfy many requests - we will do our best to mitigate this but may not be able to process some ILLs requests.

Remote learning

The vast majority of the Library's resources are available remotely. This guide will provide information on where and how to access the Library's resources, including books, journals and specialist databases. It will also provide information on the help and support available, including online one-to-one appointments, online workshops and drop-ins and our enquiry service.

Please use the tabs across the top of the guide to select the kind of information or support you require.
