Independent learning does not mean working on your own unless you want to.
To become an independent learner, you need to work out what works best for you. You may want to carve out time to work quietly and alone and at other times you may find that working collaboratively with others is helpful. You can share problems, encourage each other, and clarify issues.
The Library at Kedleston Road is zoned to help students access seating most suited to their study habits.
The zones are as follows:
Green zone – for group work and normal conversation
Orange zone – for partner work and quiet conversation
Red zone – for silent study.
We also have libraries on our other sites which tend to be smaller, quieter study spaces than Kedleston Road. Do take a look at the library opening hours for each site before travelling. You will find the opening hours on the library homepage.
