Preparing for University

Studying at university can feel like a big change from other types of study that you may have experienced. It may feel like there's lots of things that you need to do to prepare, or it may be that you want to prepare but don't know where to start.  This guide highlights two aspects of university study that are key to understand - learning independently and learning actively.  You'll find information about how university study works, along with activities to help you prepare.

You may have ideas in mind of what university study looks like - sort the myths from the facts in our Myth Busting Quiz!  You can either take the interactive quiz, or have a read through the questions and answers.

We've also put together a handy list of University Phrases - you might want to bookmark this so that you can refer back to it if needed. There's no need to learn these phrases before you begin, and you can always ask for an explanation if you read or hear a term that you don't understand.
