Structure and Flow

What are structure and flow?

Structure refers to how you organise your writing, for example, the order in which you present your ideas. Flow is about how smoothly your writing reads, such as how well one paragraph connects to the next and how clearly your ideas progress throughout the piece.

This section of the guide covers both the overall structure of an essay and how to structure individual paragraphs too.

Why do I need to learn about them?

Structure and flow both influence how easy your assignment is to read, and how easy it is to understand the points that you are making. Having a good structure to your arguments and a good flow from one point to the next will help the reader to understand what you are saying.

How do I learn about them?
