Critical Thinking

Learners are able to develop critical thinking skills, empowering them to evaluate the credibility of information, question sources, and reflect on their personal assumptions and values. This fosters a deeper understanding of their thought processes, enabling critical reflection that goes beyond mere description to achieve a more interpretative perspective. In doing so, they enhance their information, media, and data literacy.

Learners who excel in their ‘Critical Thinking’ skills demonstrate the ability to conceptualise, contrast, and contextualise information effectively. They identify the need for information, determine the facts required to reach conclusions, and assess the scope and sources of that information. Through using constructive inquiry, they seek relevant data efficiently and evaluate both the retrieved information and the methods used to obtain it, while recognising and addressing biases that may influence their thinking. These learners are able to synthesise information meaningfully, applying logical reasoning to draw sound conclusions and critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of arguments.
