Here you will find the presentation slides for our 'Introduction to Critical Thinking' workshop.

This session will introduce you to the core principles of critical thinking and its importance in academic study. It will cover what critical thinking is as well as introduce you to frameworks to help you distinguish facts from opinions, identify bias, and ask questions of the information you come across.

To assist you in developing your critical thinking, this session will draw on real-world examples of critical thinking in the workplace and have interactive elements for you to practice your critical skills.

Here you will find the presentation slides for our 'Advanced Critical Thinking' workshop.

This advanced session builds on introductory critical thinking concepts and challenges you to think more broadly about how research is created, whose knowledge is included (and left out), and your critical questioning of evidence.

You will explore techniques for evaluating the credibility and reliability of academic sources and be encouraged to apply critical thinking skills to real examples. The session will draw upon the university’s Critical Thinking guide as a framework, with discussion and hands-on tasks embedded. 

This workshop will be particularly helpful to students who are approaching their final year or dissertation topics.
