Where to get help

Where to get help

If you are in the library on campus and you need some help, the best thing to do is to ask at the Help Desk

You can also call 01332 591215 or email library@derby.ac.uk and a member of the team will answer your question.

At the bottom right hand corner of all of the library guides there is a Live Chat icon. Use this between the hours of 9am - 5pm and someone will answer your question live, via the chat box. Outside of these times you can ask your question and someone will get back to you by email.

If you are a 16-18 year old student you will have Library Tutorials throughout the year as part of your EVOLVE Future Focused Programme.

These tutorials will help you to develop a range of information literacy skills that you will need to succeed at College.

Examples of tutorials include:

  • Reading For Success, Level 1 (helps you to recognise the benefits of reading)
  • Discover Your Library, Level 2 (teaches you how to find information using Discover)
  • Referencing and Plagiarism, Level 3 Year 1 (teaches you how to reference using Harvard referencing and to understand why)
  • Research in the Library, Level 3 Year 2 (teaches you how to plan your search strategy so you find the information you need straight away)
  • Critical thinking, Level 3 Year 2 (teaches you how to identify the best evidence)

Make sure you attend these sessions so that you can develop all of these skills which you will need not just for College, but for your future employment!

If you are on an adult FE programme and would like to benefit from these tutorials too, ask your tutor to book a session via the Library.
