Lean Library Update
The Lean Library extension has been updated to provide a faster, smoother user experience. If you already have the extension installed it should be updated automatically. Please see our guide for more information.
What is Lean Library?
Lean Library makes it easier to access journals, eBooks and databases, particularly when you are studying off-campus. It is a browser extension that automatically detects when you are on a site that the Library can give you access to.
If you visit a site which the Library doesn’t provide access to, the extension will try and suggest an alternative route, including Open Access content.
Find out more by watching this short video which explains how the extension works. The technology also integrates with Google Scholar.
How does this benefit me?
So in short - if you're researching resources you may often find resources and you're unsure if we have access to them - the extension will tell you that we do and allow you to access them.
This is particularly useful if you're using a search engine like Google to search for resources.
How can you download Lean Library?
The browser extension works with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari and iOS (mobile).
Install the extension here.
After installing the extension, select ‘University of Derby’ and the extension will then pop-up and notify you when you are on a website that it can help with.
