Resource Lists

The Digitisation Service

Digitisation Service Explained

The Library runs a Digitisation Service to make digital copies of key chapters or articles from its physical collections available for students on their Resource Lists.

These resources are provided in an accessible format and can be downloaded or printed off by students and there are no restrictions on access, meaning all students can access the material at the same time.

The University of Derby pays for a licence from the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) which allows the University to scan either a single chapter or article, or 10% of a whole publication, whichever is greater. All scans are accompanied by a copyright coversheet to ensure copyright compliance.

Requests for digitisation can be quicker than requesting a purchase of book, with an average turnaround time of 5 working days.
