Education: finding evidence

British Education Index

Why might I need this database?

The British Education Index (BEI) primarily contains journal articles published in the United Kingdom, but you will find articles written about other countries, too. So if you're doing a piece of work with a UK focus, then this a database that you really should take a look at.

What subjects does it include?

Cognitive development, Computer assisted learning, Curriculum, Educational policy, Educational psychology, Educational technology, English (second language), Language acquisition, Management in education, Multicultural education, Physical education, Science education, Special educational needs, Teacher education.

How do I access the British Education Index?

You can access it from the Databases list on the Library homepage. Just search under 'B', and you will find it. Alternatively, you can follow the highlighted link here.

How does it relate to Library Search?

The British Education Index is unusual because Library Search does not integrate its content. This means that you will miss the British Education Index if you rely on Library Search alone.
