How to Reserve Items

The Library aims to make all of your important resources available for when you need them. However, we know that during busy periods, popular items may not be available if all copies are out on loan or being used by other Library users.

There may be circumstances when you require an item, but you are not planning to visit the Library site at Kedleston Road and might like to have content delivered to a closer, more convenient, location.

In these cases you can request the item you would like by placing a reservation and choosing where you would like to collect it from, and our team will secure the item for you and deliver it to your chosen pick up point.

You can have as many as 8 active reservations items at a time. We aim to fulfil requests as quickly as possible. Where requested items are in stock you can expect your item within 48 hours.

Collecting and returning your items

Once you've placed a reservation and the item is made available the Library team will place it in one of our book lockers for you. Once the item is ready to collect you will be notified and you can claim your reservation directly from the book locker. Once you've finished with the item, you can also use the book locker to return your items. See our quick video guide to using the book lockers below:
