Searching Discover - for trade magazine articles

Discover is the College Library's search engine. It allows you to find things that you might not find using Google, and gives you access that you might have to pay for otherwise. It searches for all the resources that the library has available.

Discover can help you find:

  • Books
  • eBooks
  • Magazine articles
  • Trade Publication articles
  • Newspaper articles

Find out how to search below!

To use Discover:

Go to the Library home page. Look for the Search Discover box.

Alternatively, find the Quick Links box on the Welcome page of this guide. There is a link to Discover there, too.

Enter keywords of the topic you're researching into the search box. For example, if you want to find out about the safeguarding of children attending nursery, you can search safeguarding and early years. Click search.

Discover searches for everything in the Library so you will probably see books, eBooks and more in the results list.

To find magazine articles, go to Source Types on the left menu and select the format you would like.

Book, eBook, Magazine, or Trade Publication.

Your result list will be shorter now, and only show the resource you have chosen.

Click on a title that looks helpful.

Then, click on the green 'Get Full Text' box to read it (sometimes, the text is further down the page so scroll down to see).
