General and Key Subject Resources for programmes in the school of Nursing & Midwifery

How can we help?

The Library has a live chat service embedded in every page of these library guides. Look for the little icon in the bottom right of each page. If the icon is green, that means someone is there to help! If the icon is red, no-one is available right now, but you can still submit your question to be answered later.

If you would like to chat live with Jill, your academic librarian, you can choose the chat box below. Jill may not always be online, as she spends a lot of time away from her desk teaching - but if she's not there, you can search our FAQ page or submit your query as an email ticket.

There is a separate Library Resources Help Guide which has been created to support students within the college of Health, Psychology, and Social Care.

The guide is divided into different levels of introductory, intermediate, and advanced and contains links to critical appraisal tools, reference managers, the PRISMA flow diagram, grey literature and more. It is multi-level so will contain some useful information and resources for students at any stage of study, although not all of the information will be useful to all students all of the time. Use what you need, ignore the rest.

You can get to the Library Resources Help Guide by clicking on this link.

Develop@Derby is a resource made up of material from the library, IT Services, Wellbeing, and Careers and it can all be accessed via the library homepage. There are nine categories within Develop@Derby including Academic Writing, Referencing, Digital Skills, Critical Thinking and more.

As part of our provision to students and staff, the library runs a programme of workshops throughout the academic year, under the Develop@Derby. brand These workshops cover topics such as: library research, citing and referencing, maths skills, exam revision, report writing, presentation skills, note taking, using Google more effectively, and more!

You can take a look at the Develop@Derby calendar here to see details of upcoming events. You will need to register for the workshop as we send the link to the online session out in the reminder email, which goes out two hours before the session starts.

If you cannot attend a workshop due to timing, please register anyway. We record most workshops and email a link to the recording (and PPT) to everyone who registered, so even if you cannot attend you will still have access to the materials to go over when it suits your schedule.

We have an extensive collection of Frequently Asked Questions that we are adding to all the time.

Search for your question in the box below. If it hasn't been asked before, you can submit it as a question and we will respond to you and also add the question and answer as a new FAQ.
