This is your guide to finding and using the best Library resources for programmes in the School of Allied Health & Social Care (occupational therapy, diagnostic radiography, hand therapy, ultrasound, social work, health and social care, child and family health and wellbeing and social pedagogy)
The side-navigation bar will direct you towards the resources and guidance for different types of research, such as finding and using books, eBooks, academic journal articles and more.
You will also find lists of the key resources the Library subscribes to which are of use to these programmes, as well as links for other useful websites outside of the Library.
The Referencing tab will direct you to Cite Them Right, our primary referencing support resource and this provides examples in both the Harvard style (which most programmes in the College use) as well as APA (if you're doing a psychology module you may need to use this style instead.) There is also a brief section on reference management software which, if you're doing lots of research, or you have a lot of references to organise, you may find useful to investigate.
The link for Academic Skills Resources will take you to a page with two links. One, for our Develop@Derby resources which cover nine categories and a wide range of topics within those categories including: academic writing, note taking, presentation skills, critical thinking and more. There is a mix of resource types so you won't just find lots of text, there are also videos and podcasts around study and academic skills. You'll also find a link to our new SAGE Student Success resource which is well worth a look as it includes material to improve your skills and knowledge along with self-assessments so that you can identify gaps and get confirmation of where you're already doing really well.
And if you find you need help, just click the Help Me! link to learn about the various ways you can contact us for more information and support, or use the contact options in the box on this page.
