How can we help?

The Library has a live chat service embedded in every page of these library guides. Look for the little icon in the bottom right of each page. If the icon is green, that means someone is there to help! If the icon is red, no-one is available right now, but you can still submit your question to be answered later.

If you would like to chat live with Caroline, your academic librarian, you can choose the chat box below. Caroline may not always be online, as she spends a lot of time away from her desk teaching - but if she's not there, you can leave search our FAQ page or submit your query as an email ticket.

We have an extensive collection of Frequently Asked Questions that we are adding to all the time.

Search for your question in the box below. If it hasn't been asked before, you can submit it as a question and we will respond to you and also add the question and answer as a new FAQ.

Every programme has an Academic Librarian assigned to it. The Academic Librarian for these programmes is Caroline Ball.

You can contact Caroline via email at c.ball@derby.ac.uk

One-to-one appointments are also available. However, you must evidence that you have attempted to solve your issue yourself first, via library guides, Develop @ Derby workshops etc, and come with a clear idea of what you want help with.

Develop@Derby is your one-stop shop for building personal skills that help with your university studies and beyond.

Check Develop@Derby for help with academic research, referencing, critical thinking, digital skills and many other resources to help you build your confidence with your academic skillset. We have a huge range of resources available, from live and pre-recorded workshops, library guides, videos, diagnostic tools and quizzes, podcasts, and more.

You can take a look at the Develop@Derby calendar here to see details of upcoming workshops. Some events are free to just drop-in, others may require booking. If you cannot attend a workshop due to timing, please register anyway. We record all workshops (not clinics or drop-ins) and email a link to the recording to everyone who registered, so even if you cannot attend you will still have access to the recording.
