There are a number of videos and PowerPoint files available for you to watch / use in your own time to familiarise yourself with some of our online resources. (See the Videos boxes for more information). They will range from general introductions to intermediate and up to advanced / expert to suit different stages of your student journey. (This guide is a work in progress and more material will be added over time.)
If you still have questions after you've looked at the videos then you should book onto one of the relevant workshops available through our events calendar. These are run regularly and - as long as you register - you will be sent a copy of the recording once the workshop is over.
The Library has a programme of workshops, drop-ins and clinics that runs throughout the academic year, called Develop@Derby. These workshops cover topics such as: library research, citing and referencing, maths skills, exam revision, report writing, presentation skills, note taking, using Google more effectively, and more!
Some of these sessions and workshops are delivered by members of the Skills Team, some are delivered by the Academic Librarians.
You can take a look at the Develop@Derby calendar here to see details of upcoming events. You will need to register to attend and they are generally recorded with the link to the recording sent out after the event.
We do try and avoid using too much library jargon when we answer you, but sometimes it still slips out! If you're not sure what we mean, please ask.
