You should not use AI in a manner that constitutes academic misconduct. The Academic Regulations, section J2.1(iii) Academic Misconduct, Plagiarism, states that: "If a student's work is found to contain verbatim (or near verbatim) quotation from the work of others (including from Generative AI) without acknowledgement, then plagiarism has been committed".
In simple terms, this means that Generative Artificial Intelligence should not be used to directly write your own work. Any use of Generative Artificial Intelligence should be cited appropriately and used within the rules of the Academic Regulations. There are uses for AI that is acceptable, such as Grammarly and Quillbot in proofreading, but the content and research should always be your own work. You can use the ‘Ask A Friend’ test to ensure that you are using AI ethically. For guidance on how to reference AI, please click onto the ‘Referencing AI’ guide and for further clarification on issues with AI, please refer to the ‘Ethics & Risks of AI’ guide.
As a further addition, if you are unsure about using AI within your course, please talk to your Academics.
