Adaptability

Adaptability is the ability to navigate change effectively. It involves being open, flexible, and capable of learning from experiences to adjust in response to new circumstances.

Tripartite Perspective

Adaptability can be understood in three parts: behavioural, cognitive, and emotional. This is known as the “tripartite” perspective on adaptability.

Cognitive Adaptability

  • Cognitive Adaptability is the ability to modify one's thoughts and thinking in response to change.

Behavioural Adaptability

  • Behavioural Adaptability is the ability to change nature, intensity, and the extent of your actions to effectively manage change.

Emotional Adaptability

  • Emotional Adaptability involves adjusting your emotional response to effectively cope with change.

A combination of the three will enable you to be more effective when responding to new or changing situations.
