The Library has a live chat service embedded in every page of these library guides. Look for the little icon in the bottom right of each page. If the icon is green, that means someone is there to help! If the icon is red, no-one is available right now, but you can still submit your question to be answered later.
We have an extensive collection of Frequently Asked Questions that we are adding to all the time.
Search for your question in the box below. If it hasn't been asked before, you can submit it as a question and we will respond to you and also add the question and answer as a new FAQ.
Every programme has an Academic Librarian assigned to it. The Academic Librarian for Sociology is Caroline Ball.
You can contact Caroline via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Library runs a programme of workshops, drop-ins and clinics throughout the academic year, called Enhance Your Learning. These workshops cover topics such as: library research, citing and referencing, maths skills, exam revision, report writing, presentation skills, note taking, using Google more effectively, and more!
You can take a look at the Enhance Your Learning calendar here to see details of upcoming events. Some events are free to just drop-in, others may require booking.
If you cannot attend a workshop due to timing, please register anyway. We record all workshops (not clinics or drop-ins) and email a link to the recording to everyone who registered, so even if you cannot attend you will still have access to the recording.
We have a Study Skills team who can help with a range of academic skills, from planning and structuring essays, to revision and note-taking skills, interpreting feedback and citing and referencing.
