Referencing

Cite them Right Online is a key resource or tool that helps you understand why referencing is important and also provides guidance on how to create and structure you citations and references according to the 'rules' of a variety of referencing styles.

It is recommended that you read through the Basics of Referencing pages for background referencing information. This is great for learning about quoting, paraphrasing and summarising as well as how to quote secondary sources.  There is also a really useful tutorial that you can use to gain better understanding of referencing.

To use Cite them Right:

  • Select your referencing style
  • Select the type of resource you need to reference; for example, is it a book, an article, a webpage or a blog?
  • Look at the guidance on citation order.  This tells you what information you should inlcude, the order it appears and any information about punctuation etc.
