Intermediate: By the Intermediate level you are developing higher level skills. For example, you may be expected to demonstrate some or all of these by the end of the second year of an undergraduate programme.
Throughout the Intermediate level you should be developing skills that enable you to:
- Search a selection of resources effectively to find relevant information on your topic.
- Apply more advanced search techniques such as understanding how to use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), phrase searching and truncation using your prepared search strategy.
- Refine your searches by understanding how to broaden or narrow you search.
- Use other library catalogues to discover resources beyond those held by the University of Derby.
- Request additional resources using the Inter Library Loans service.
- Access other university libraries in person using the SCONUL Access scheme.
