Resilience at University

Experience, Action, Reflection

The experience, reflection, and action model (ERA) (Jasper, 2013) is one of the simplest models suggested and it may be particularly useful if you are not in the habit of reflecting upon your learning. This reflective model is based around building your understanding of learning or an experience, by systematically analysing the process which will help you to gain clarity. Some things you may want to think about may include how it made you feel, did it have a positive outcome, how could it be improved in the future for similar scenarios. It can also be used to link theory and experiences which allows a deeper level of understanding and enhanced application in the future after taking action to improve it. Finally, think of action you can take next time! By meaningfully reflecting, you will be able to recognise actionable steps that you can take for self-improvement which will help to transform your learning journey.
