Critical thinking and reading: what, why and how to read.

Overview:
In this workshop students will learn why it’s important to use academic literature in their assignments and what are the sources they should be reading. They will discover some of the key approaches to reading such as skimming, scanning and intensive reading.  The workshop will also cover tips for reading critically and how to effectively manage their academic reading.

Novice/Intermediate/Advanced

  • Understand why it's important to read at university
  • Understand some of the most common information sources and what they are useful for
  • Have an awareness of different reading strategies
