Within the discovery tool you'll find a wide range of Jisc-curated resources.
You'll also find resources from Microsoft, Google and the Education Training Foundation (ETF).
Each resource has been carefully selected to support your digital learning experience.
Resources can be accessed in two ways:
1. Resource Bank (Students).
2. Question set feedback reports.
3. Go to the Jisc Discovery Tool website, find and select the 'University of Derby'.
4. Login with your Uni email username and password.
5. Click on 'Discovery tool for students', then 'Resource bank for students'.
The Resource Bank for students has a number of playlists with hundreds of resources that are mapped to the different areas of the digital capability framework and other elements used in the question sets.
The playlists are categorised into three main sub-sections:
Jisc have created a special collection of resources for new students. Open the Resource bank for students and scroll down to access the New Students section.
In the publisher collections, you'll find resources from Microsoft, Google and ETF.
You can like and bookmark category playlists and individual resources by clicking on the thumbs-up and bookmark icons. If you bookmark a resource it automatically appears in My Playlists: Favourites.
Creating your own playlist allows you to track resources that you've already reviewed or want to review next.
You can download/export a list of the resources you've reviewed by selecting Download My Activity.
You can also share your feedback reports by selecting the share icon.
You can take the discovery tool more than once and then compare your reports using the report overlay functionality. Choose any one of your previously completed reports and compare it with your most recent one.
You can make notes, add external resource links or reflect on your progress by selecting Add Moment.
Each moment is saved in your Folio. Your Folio is a private space where other useful information is stored as well as any Notifications and Achievements.
Use the search bar at the top of the screen to find resources relating to your keywords. For example, typing in 'problem-solving' will find resources in the discovery tool with those keywords in the title or summary.
