Communication

Effective communication involves understanding your audience, being clear and concise, practicing active listening, and aligning verbal and non-verbal cues to convey your message confidently.

Interviews

When you move into the workplace or if you are currently working and changing role then be aware of the possible questions relating to communication that may come up at interview.

Here are a few examples:

  • Tell me about a time when you had to persuade a team to carry out a task.
  • Tell me about a presentation you have designed and delivered.
  • What important communication techniques do use to convey your message?
  • Give me an example where you had to manage conflict and how you negotiated an amenable conclusion.
  • How do you handle receiving constructive criticism?

You can seek support with your interview skills through the University of Derby Careers Service.
