Westlaw

Westlaw is one of the most important legal databases used here at the University of Derby. You can use it to find law reports, legislation, journal articles and eBooks.

If when you log in to Westlaw, you see a pop-up box asking you to sign in to your Westlaw UK Profile just click Skip.

It may help to have Westlaw open in a separate tab whilst you watch these videos, so you can see for yourself the tips demonstrated.

Training webinars

Westlaw offers a comprehensive programme of webinars from August to December, covering Westlaw and Practical Law.

These are free to access for students, and the full schedule can be viewed at the following link - 23/24 Schedule

Please use your university email when registering for these accounts, and make sure to include the University of Derby in the name of your Law School.

Westlaw provides the opportunity to take a test to prove your proficiency in using Westlaw for legal research - when you pass you will be sent a certificate to demonstrate your skills, which can be listed on your CV.

There are three Westlaw certification options:
