What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is trading system between companies in the Global North and producers in the Global South in which fair prices are paid to the producers, ensuring they benefit from the trades.

The University of Derby and the Union of Students aim to nurture a growing Fairtrade Movement within the University. Which can enable us all to develop our skills, knowledge, attributes and experience in the fight against poverty.

The University of Derby and the Union of Students are working in partnership with in-house and external caterers to jointly commit to support, use and promote Fairtrade products, where possible extending both their sales and procurement as far as is feasible.
